Fusing Classes
Fused Glass Pendants (Introduction to Fusing) $95
This is our most popular beginning class! Class sizes range from 6-10 students and all the instruction and materials are included! In this professional introduction to fusing session, we cover glass fusion theory , glass art principals, design techniques, using noodles and stringers, working with dichroic, glass assembly, and proper bail attachment. We briefly demonstrate basic glass cutting techniques. You will create 10 glass cabochons that you will make into pendants. Prism will fire your pieces and they will be available for pick up a few days later. Bails (hanging loops) are included. No experience necessary. Some students prefer to take our Glass Cutting 101 class prior to this experience, but it is not required. (Arrangement for private parties of 10 is available). This is the first step in your fusing experience.
Examples of Potential Creations
Fusing with Mud, $135, includes Mud Kit and lunch! Using this very Unique texture medium, you will create fun and dynamic images in glass.This Mud technique allows you to create sculptural effects on glass, terra cotta, etc, with just a few simple brushstrokes.You will learn how to sculpt with a brush and create two4” fused masterpieces.See the samples in the store.Pictures just don’t do it justice. You can do this, I promise!
Designing with Glass Powder$65
Learn techniques for creating cute design elements with glass powder and fine frit.We share our Tips and Tricks for firing powder, a short session discussing color, a step by step description of the firing process and you get to make a couple of your own fired design elements.(Firing included). Class fee includes a small kit containing powder sifters, patterns, a mask, instructions and a list of everything you will need to create fun projects at home.This class is suitable for students with previous fusing experience that just want to “up” their game.Note: If you don’t have a kiln and want us to fire your pieces onto a glass base later, just select the glass when you pick up your finished pieces and we will fire for a small fee.
Etched Dichroic Pendants $60 Using a rotary tool, you will create the images of your choice on dichroic glass.This class will teach you a technique for attaining fine lines in dichroic, We will discuss fire polishing, and use of saws to create specialty shapes.You will create three beautiful projects that you will be proud to wear.All materials, bails and firing included.
Fused Glass Birdhouse $45 + base glass These are a couple of samples of our newest and cutest class. It's the Fused Glass Birdhouse Class. In this class you will learn all the tips and tricks while making your very own glass birdhouse. Sharon will provide all the fun embellishments and firing; you will need to buy the background glass and the glass for the roof (1.5 square feet total). These couldn't be cuter. So stop in today to get a better look and to sign up! Previous cutting experience required.
Faux Wine Bottle with Bottle Topper $65 + base glass
During this class you will design and create a “wine bottle” made of System 96 fusible glass and a coordinating bottle topper. This class is even better than slumping wine bottles because it offers so many more design possibilities. Prism will provide both firings, use of our mold, design elements, and instruction. Students are responsible for the purchase of the base glass. This versatile dish has a handle and a cavity that measures 4x8. Perfect for hors’dourves.
Specialty Jewelry $65
Please note: this class is for experienced fusers only. You will learn three exciting jewelry techniques that you can incorporate into your home fusing program. (Or stop in for Frequent Fusers). Capture a bubble, use dichroic as a mosaic, and create a cute flower. Although this is not a project class, you will walk away with 6 beautiful test pieces that allow you to practice your newfound knowledge. All materials are included. Cutting skills required.
Fused Mood Lamp $65 + background glass
Create a 12 x 6 to 8" fused panel that will be first fused flat and then refired on a half circle slump mold, so it stands upright! This project may be illuminated with a candle or a small lighted base. Prism will provide instruction, two firings, and glass design elements such as precut squares, noodles, stringers, confetti, frit, and system 96 scrap. Students will choose and purchase the base glass and must have glass cutting experience. Some fusing experience is also recommended.
Frequent Fusers Club: Pendants $6/ea
The next step to your fusing addiction…this is open studio time for individuals who desire to make more fused pendants after they have taken our Fused Pendant Class. Come and join your fellow fusers for community and fun. It’s also a great place to fuel your creativity - even if you do have a home studio. System 96 will be provided along with noodles, stringers and confetti. All the precut squares and rectangles are also available for those who are uneasy about cutting. Bails and dichroic are available for purchase. Reservations are limited to sign up early. Cutting skills are not required, but will widen the possibilities of your fusing experience. If you would like to learn glass cutting, consider taking Glass Cutting 101.
Frequent Fusers Club: Dichro Night Out $16/ea. Use our dichroic coated glass to create stunning pendants that will knock your socks off! The great part is there is no investment. You pay for what you use! We ask that you make a minimum of 3 pieces, but you are wlecome to make as much as you want. It would be nearly impossible to accumulate the amount of dichroic that we have, so this is your chance to play, play, play! Cutting skills are helpful, but not required. Instruction is not included.
Fused Fritted Tile $69
During this two-part class you will use frit and glass to create a beautifully artistic tile. Use a design of your choice or choose from the designs available. Pieces will then be fired at Prism. During the first class we will schedule a time for you to come in to add additional details using glass paint. This class is great for anyone who is seeking to learn more fusing skills and techniques. These skills could be used on a larger scale to create plates, etc. Glass cutting skills are required.
Fused Spoon Rest $45+Glass
These fused spoon rests will make a fabulous addition to any kitchen. Choose the class to match your décor before class. Some cutting skills are required. We also have a variety of precut fusible pieces as a design option. You may decorate with frit, precuts, and other decorative elements. This class will be a fun time, spent being creative and making friends.
Fused Picture Frame $75
Create and decorate your fused glass picture frame that we will mount on a commercial frame. You will construct one 5x7 frame and BONUS! - you may use the negative space inside the frame to create jewelry, elements, an ornament - whatever you like.
Fus ed Crosses $90
You will learn to make these beautiful fused crosses in either style – funky or traditional. You will get a whole tray to yourself! Most will create 4 crosses (depending on the size of your projects). These make great gifts and tasteful home décor. Fusing Experience and Basic cutting skills required.
Carveable Mold Making Seminar $65
This seminar will focus on creating new and exciting fusing molds while using Kaiser-Lee Board. This board is easy to work with and allows you to make parts that are interchangeable for creating several molds in one! You will view sample projects and learn about cutting, sanding, and arranging this board. Each person will receive a small piece during this class. As a gift you will receive a 10% discount off your Kaiser Lee purchase during the class.
Science Behind Kiln Firing Glass $40 Why do I need a programmable controller on my kiln? Understanding the firing processes that glass requires will allow you to have greater success. Learn about the three phases of firing schedules and how to build your own firing schedules for you kiln in you environment. If you are building larger and more technical projects, this class is for you. This seminar will run 1.5-2hours.
Fused Wind Chime $90
You do the artwork and we’ll supply the glass, instruction, and firing to make one beautiful fused glass wind chime for your garden or home. All Materials Provided. Samples in-store. Previous cutting and fusing skills preferred, but not required.
Fused Table Sconces $50
Create two beautiful sconces for a table or mantle. Make them for yourself or as wedding, holiday or housewarming gifts.Customize your design and colors to suit your taste.We light these with candles and they are so beautiful!Cutting skills highly recommended.Most materials included, however, specialty precuts will be available for purchase.
Fused Garden Ornament$95 All materials included! Create a three tile series of varying sizes that hang from fishing swivels. This is a great garden accessory or keep it indoors. Learn about firing theory, assembly, and wire inclusions. Prism will fire your pieces for pickup a week later. This piece catches sunlight beautifully.
Pre-requisites: Fused Glass Pendants class and basic cutting skills.
Four Season Pin Class $55
Create 4 seasonal pin/pendants using our new "combo finding" to perfectly accessorize your wardrobe throughout the year. All materials included. Beginning fusing experience required.
Understanding Your Kiln $45
This seminar is great for anyone who owns or plans on owning a kiln. We will discuss ordering, setup, testing and running your kiln. There will be special emphasis on programming, care, and shelf materials. There will be Q & A session to help with individual needs. It’s great learning experience for all you "firing newbie’s", or a great refresher for current owners. Estimate to run 1 1/2 hours. Reservations required.
Fused Snowflake $125
All materials provided.Most of the glass is already cut. Fill a whole 13” round kiln shelf with snowflakes. Use our patterns or make your own. These make beautiful decorations or gifts for Christmas. Fusing experience required.
Fused Christmas Ornaments $90
Choose from a variety of pre-cuts provided by Prism. Fill your tray with as many balls, trees, diamonds, snowmen, and santas as you can. Most students create 3-8 ornaments (depending on the size you choose). Use frit, scraps, dots, and your creativity to make some beautiful decorations and/or gifts. Great for personalizing your holiday décor.
Fused Tile Clock $95
Create a tile using painting techniques. Learn to drill a hole, and assemble the clock works. Previous fusing experience required. All Materials Included.
Wet Glass Inlay $160
Enjoy learning a new fusing technique using glass powders and liquid stringer medium.Create a beautiful 8” tile using our patterns for your first experience, or...just go for it!All materials provided. See “in-store” sample.Fusing experience required.
Cork Critters 3 for $45 All of you that enjoy an occasional bottle of wine will have a great time making these cute bottle toppers. These cute critters will be the talk of your party. You need to be able to cut glass, but no other experience is necessary. Make little faces or just abstract designs while learning a little about inclusions. (Extras $15.00 each.)
Nutcrackers and Turkeys$26 each
A Frequent fuser event where you make Nutcracker and Turkey ornaments for your fall décor, or as gifts for those great people that feed you Thanksgiving dinner! Each ornament is $26 and we ask that you make at least two!We provide the instruction, the glass, and the firing.This is a class that is designed for fun, so gobble on over!
Decal Daze $85Add creativity to your pendants by using decals and manufacturing your own dynamic background glass. It's easier than you think. We will teach a Glassline painting technique and show you how to properly apply and fire decals. You will make 4 dynamic pendants while learning about paint, decals, contrast, and color mixing! Glass cutting skills and previous fusing experience required.
All Cracked Up $65
Take this class to learn a specialty design technique that you can use in future fusing projects. Learn the secret behind this cracking technique while creating a 7" square or round design element. You could turn this panel into a beautiful dish, or break it up and use the pieces as creative design elements. This is another one of those design techniques that really adds dimension to your art! Bring Powder sifters and masks, or you may purchase at time of class. We provide the first firing and the glass.
Fusing Large Prices will be based on size of project + base glass
This is the perfect opportunity for all experienced fusers who would like to make BIGGER projects. Come to Prism’s studio and use our hand tools to cut glass, wash, and assemble your dish, plate, or bowl. Choose from our extensive selection of “house” molds. Prices are based on size and number of firings. We will also provide scrap glass, class noodles, class stringers, and confetti, fire paper, and primo primer prepared molds. We will load and unload the kilns.
Fused Funky Clock $85+glass
Create a fun and funky fused clock. You will learn about fusing, drilling, clock assembly, and other techniques. Clock works, fusing, and instruction will be included. Purchase glass prior to class.
Pre-requisites: Fused Glass Pendants class and basic cutting skills.
Tiled Reflections $75
Create this stunning fused glass tile mirror. We will use the same 10 x 10 wood base that we use for the Groutless mosaic, only you will design and apply fused tiles instead of raw glass. We will handle all the kiln firing and provide all the materials for your masterpiece. This streamlined class is organized in such a way that no fusing experience is required. Basic cutting skills will allow you to be a little more creative, but are not required.
Faux Woven Basket$70 plus glass
This 11" square basket would look great on any table, and is fairly easy to build. You just need to select two complimentary colors, cut your strips and assemble!The spaces in between are empty and create a basketweave effect. We have other samples in other colors for your viewing pleasure. It's Halloween, so Orange and Black were the choice of the month!
Pot Pockets $35ea.
Create a cute Fused Wall or Window Pot Pocket that you can fill with your favorite dried flowers. (So many of you fusers asked us to create a pattern for this that we made some extras up and have decided to give it away for free. So stop in and check them out.) We created this class event so that all of you that don't own a kiln have the opportunity to make your own. We will cut the base glass to just the right size and provide all the materials and design elements for your pot making pleasure.
